So this is what we did I gave out allot of cookies, I mean allot of goodies. I baked for a weekend, Fudge, Toffee, truffles and cookies.
for a bit of service we hide the neighbors gifts from the kids. We took goodies to one of our Friends mother in law. Put up a tree for someone. Send a cheesecake to a group of hard workers. Helped teach someone how to work the Koncit.
Since we are not a singing family we spared many of that. Goodies to the office. Brought a few short story books to a few. read a story about Christmas to a child. Made special cookies for my Sunday school class. Had some pictures ordered and delivered to my Dad. It was easy to come up with ideas.
Most were done out of the house but a few inside. It didn't cost much and I feel filled with the gift of service. I thought about giving the gift Christ gave when he washed the disciples feet. I wanted to put all white socks on the cleaned feet . However I could not find them. That was sad. Now I have a year to find all white socks no color at all. Let me know if you have been near you.
Mean while all this going on and work. We are buying a house. Ernie and I have been in escrow for months. It looks like the house will close on Friday the 13th. Then the real work begins, painting and packing and moving and unpacking. We never planned to move from the hill. Those of you that know that we had been blessed to live on a hill in the middle of San Diego with a million dollar view. And the rent was dirt cheap.
Our life in the past few years has seen many changes and one them is moving. We have been on the hill for over 16 years so that is alot to move, clean out and dump. As we look ahead at this new chapter in our lives we know from prayer that it is what Heavenly Fathers wants for us at this moment in time. Our new home will not have a view. We will have a large yard and garden area. It is a 3 bedroom house and only 1 bathroom. However there is a place to put the Razorback Hogs at Christmas and its a nice neighborhood. Close to the trolley and shopping and lots of parking and a patio for parties. The most important thing a place for my Dad . So our live is moving beyond the hill. We are still going to take care of Sid. We love him. Ernie 's honey dew list has grown to never shrink. I will post pictures they come.

The Holiday Season

This year as the Holidays arrive we are going to try something different. For the 12 days of Christmas we are going to give 12 days of service. Ernie and I have started on the 13th and will end this on Christmas Eve. I will let you know how it went without giving away to much of what we did.
Examples of things we have thought would work; bringing goodies to someone and helping an elderly sister put up her tree, maybe pay the toll for the next person or for a dinner out. We might help with someone one Christmas lights or babysit so that the parents have a free moment. Hide the gifts for a friend. Say an extra prayer for someone on need. Its a creative process. I hope that you might join us if not this year maybe next year. The county was blacked out well into the night. The power source from AZ was knocked out. So I left the office about 4:15PM and couldn't get passed the airport about 1.5 miles away. So I thought why waste gas, I turned the car around and went back to Pt Loma.
I am really grateful for the friends I have there that took such good care of me. I waited around sipped lemonade and rested. Then about 7:26PM I got on the road again and made it home in record time.
I have to say that it was nice to enjoy the stars and the peace an quiet. Ernie and I had a portal radio and that gave us all the information that we needed. We were able to plug in an old push button phone that gave us a land line. I remember Ryan saying Mom who is ever going to use one of those again? The answer me. We couldn't reach Ryan on his cell for many hours. With plenty of water and food, not to mention a hand held can opener and camping gear we had a nice dinner. The candle light was nice and I was even able to get a shower.
The lights came back on and so did the noise. I could hear the trash trunks this morning and the buzz from the radio towers across from our house. Simple times and a reminder that all this modern stuff is not always what it is cracked up to be. I am grateful that we took all precaution's to be prepared and we didn't suffer at all.

Campos Family Reunion 2011

It's been 11 years since we had the last reunion. So much time and so many now missed.
Ernie and I started out the day driving to Santa Barbara, we took the 5 north to the 126 west. On the way we saw the beginnings of the Citrus Festival and the hot air balloons, so we took a few moments for pictures.
Then off to Tuckers Grove Park.
As we arrived and watched our family slowly stroll in, first Richard and his wife.
Then Ray and Jeanie, along came Lisa, Monica and Aunt Honey. Then Maya. The twins Donna and Darlene and Pammie and Kim. Bobby and Barbie right behind. Then Angie and Christine and kids. Uncle Jeddy and Beverly rolled in with Connie. Then Tina. We enjoyed a nice meal together and visited with everyone we could. Lisa learned that there are more Taylor's in our family. Rudy Castillo called me Dale, what a complement. The committee had in in the wrong branch of our family tree, but that was soon grafted back in the Cruz branch. So my name tag read Heather Beck (Charles's Daughter)and Ernie's read (Ernie Beck Charlie's favorite son in law).
Just before we left the park we gave a quilt to Uncle Jeddy. Maybe I need to say why.
After the tamale reunion last December the girl cousins over breakfast thought it would be fun to put together quilts for our Elders and so I called Pammie and we planned just what we thought would work. The idea was that each one of us would make a quilt block that would be a memory to that Uncle or Aunt.
After many phone calls and emails all the squares arrived to Pammie and she put together these quilts of love. Uncle Jeddy had to leave so we gave him his at the park. We we got to Angie's house we gave Aunt Honey hers. And I took my Dad's. We would of liked to present them all together, however this worked.
We hung out and shared stories all after noon.
As the sun was beginning to set Ernie and I left and went back down to Ventura where we were staying. And ended our evening with our friend Ricki and Chuck. Had a nice dinner with them.
We can hardly wait to get together again. As we love our family and know that the stories that we gain at these reunions is our families history.
It is always good to renew friendships and family and to see the love we have been blessed with.

It's Hotter then July on July 1st

Today is the first of July and in true Heather fashion I am planning for Christmas and trips into the new year.
Yes I know there are lots of things going on before. This weekend is the last of the fair and Ernie and I will be checking out Bizz singing, Stacy dancing and Mark putting people under hypnosis. Not to mention Ernie needs to eat yet another Pinks Hot dog.
We are also thinking about buying a house, so looking around at what is available in our price range and the neighborhoods we would like to live. Yes we will miss our home on the hill. We have been there for the past 16 years. Also we would like to stay in the same ward.
There are few things that re important to us. Enough room for the Almost Christmas Eve party every year and for those instant Wii parties and a back patio. It almost sounds like we don't live inside at all.
It has been a quiet month, however summer is not over yet. This weekend it going to Hot or San Diego. So maybe I 'll just relax, get real not a chance of that. Ryan is getting ready to go to Phoenix for a few weeks. Ernie and I are going to Santa Barbara for the family reunion. There will be breakfast with Ricki and maybe Chuck.
So thankful that we can stay at the Marina in Ventura.
Hope to be able to catch some time with Leah. It was a blessing to hear from her after many many years. We are looking forward to what the next few months bring. Ryan is going to Ireland for a life long dream trip. Can't wait to see the pictures of that. Ernie and I have cruise planned in October-November. I almost forgot the girls wild weekend of laughing, shopping and food is happening in early Aug. Many things going on, well back to planning the actitives for next year....

All about the Arts

Its summer time in San Diego and I am ready for it. The fair is getting ready to start and I am not working, however I do plan to hang out there a few times.
Below is a fund riser that Ryan is working on and the time is short. Please take the time to watch the video and if you can donate $10.00 or more. He is really doing his best to bring dance and arts back into the schools. Since so many schools have had their budgets cut. Ryan and his business partner Kevin are doing these films in hopes that they can bring the arts into schools on film and not have to pay dancers to perform every time. So if you can help out or know someone who can please share his link with them.

http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.indiegogo.com%2FFund-Ryan-Becks-Latest-Film&h=0c78d
Fund Ryan Beck's Latest Film -- IndieGoGo
www.indiegogo.com
Fund Ryan Beck's Latest Film -- IndieGoGo
www.indiegogo.com
Fund Ryan Beck's Latest Film -- IndieGoGo
www.indiegogo.com

Service, Snow , Friendship and Food.

I just returned from Provo, Utah. Many people asked me why I was going to Provo.
I guess because I am not a person that skis or snowboards. As a gift to me this year I asked Ernie to fly me to Women's Conference. I have spend a few times attending this amazing conference and this year was no different. Women gather from all around the world to be refilled with the spirit. About 23thousand woman attended this year. The first day was about 39 degrees as I got out of the car and stat red walking toward the Marriott Center I was finally cold. Since freezing is 32 degrees.
I went back to car for a jacket, however by the first break this wasn't needed. It warmed up to about 70.
I was interviewed on my way to hear John and Kim Bytheway. The topic was keeping the Covenants we have made. Such good stuff. After that talk came another good talk. So much to do and listen too. I meet some really amazing women. That evening I had a wonderful dinner with Charly and Chelcie.
It really fills my soul to attend the conference and see some of my past students at the same time. Heather Kuepper and family joined me at the Red Iguana on Wednesday, if you have never eaten here and find yourself in Salt Lake City it is a must. There is always a line. Yes it is true no matter what the weather, that is because the food is out of this world.
Friday came and out the door I went back to the conference to hear Julie B. Beck speak. no relation. And then I found the best way to hear the speakers and give service, It's called the Learning and service room I think. You go to a room with comfortable seats (not always avavible at the conference) and make something for service. On Friday I stiched up backpacks for title one schools in Utah. While working listening to Mary Ellen Edmonds and others. The night before many women stayed on campus and meet for the "Errands of Angels Project and through out the day did about 55 thousand hours of service.
Over 34 thousand school kits and health kits alone. As a group it is true there is nothing as women we can't do. To see the numbers of things that are made and put together while we are there in just 2 days, brings tears to my eyes even now.
I did run into alot of snow while driving back to Ryan Hunts house, he was so wonderful to allow he to take over a room in his house. Thanks Ryan, Brandy and Morgan.
I tell you snow in April, now living in San Diego, CA snow is not something I see in April almost May. Frannie asked me to look out the window Saturday as it was my plan to go north and visit with her and the kids. She had a bout 5-6 inches of snow. She found great humor in the fact that it was snowing.
Off I went see them, a wonderful meal made by the Chef of Costco. Did I say Frannie is going to school full time raisng 2 teenage boys and working two jobs. I was delighted that the chef Costco could take time out for me.
The kids have grown and have wonderful children of their own. I wanted to surpise the Kaufusi family and so Frannie and I did a little wedding crashing, Fun fun fun.
I wish I could of stayed longer off to the airport I went and got home about 10:00 Saturday night.
Sunday morning I caught the train to LA to see Aunt Honey and meet up with Ernie. He spend the weekend with Aunt Honey and watching Dante perform. We had a wonderful lunch with Dawn Naeata her mother and son, also Elbe and Dante. The weekend was full. However I can trully say that my heart and cup have been refilled with the love and spirit that I was able to gain in this past few days. I only hope everyone has the chance to be filled like this often. What will happen in May? Ernie and I are planning a fun weekend of family and friends. Friday night the yearly Good Friday and egg dinner with Bob and Moe. Saturday night the ward dinner with an Asian theme. Easter Sunday at April and Arnold's house for dinner. In between I will be teaching the lesson in RS and Ernie will have to run home and cook up our part of the dinner.
Then that evening a small meal with Ryan and Anthony. I am planning my trip to Salt Lake City for the Women's Conference. Right now it seems I am attending alone.
I look forward to seeing Sister Carr and Family for dinner at the Red Ingunna, my favor tie Mexican joint in SLC.
Then off to the Hotel Hunt. I am so thankful for Ryan and his family to put up with me doing these crazy visits. I am hoping to see the Nutz sisters Thursday night and then the Cannadays Saturday for lunch and back to San Diego. Ernie is going the next weekend to Phoenix to see Book'em Dano and have three foot hot dog called the unit. I hope he takes pictures of that. He will be back on Mother's Day.
I am sure to add more to this then. Keep up and enjoy.

Blue and White

White sandy beaches and Deep blue water. Great fun while at sea. As we ended the family vacation this year all I could say is when do I start planning the next one.
We left San Diego on a cool sunny Sunday afternoon. Ryan's birthday the day before and Ernie's coming up on Tuesday. We had a wonderful first day aboard the Carnival Spirit. The super bowl plying in the lounge. And dinner with Helene and Sargene.
The next day after alittle sun we really took the day to rest and relax. Played some silly on board games. Had a wonderful time at the Captians reception. We meet a wonderful singer from Chicago. What a voice and sang old school. Took the family vacation photo. I really like that everyone gets dressed up. Ernie, Ryan and Dante looked smooth. Ernie and I took the ballroom dance class.
Today while in Cabo San Lucas I leaned that snorkling is not the sport for me. However it was beautiful and I did see lots of fish. The crew on our boat was some kind of fun. The water was cold. And we saw many whales. Whales with babies and whales alone. Since all these whales are born in the Sea of Cortez I guess that makes them mexican whales. Enjoyed the day in the sun about 78 and now Ernie and I both got sunburned. The Deck Party was a great time and the video to share priceless.
Today was alittle cooler and more clouds in the sky but we went whale watching any way. Oh the fun that was whales and more whales. California grey whales, humpback whales and Pilot whales. We got great pictures. After dinner Ernie and Dante took the Thriller dance class and the ladies really got a kick out of them. The next night will be Disco 101. Loads of fun things to do on the last day at sea.
Shows to watch and comedy to listen too. Games to play. The love game was so funny.
And Ernie and I have to work on our trivia before the next cruise for sure.
I am thankful for the time we had to spend together and look forward to our next trip. Those who know me kbow that I am already planning ahead for that.

Christmas Past

The holidays are behind us and the new year looks bright.
At the Beck house we had the Almost Christmas Eve Party. We ate allot and played a lot. The Ladies can brag for another year. Thanks guys. Debra was our ringer this year for sure. The men are talking about getting together to practice for the next year. It's always so much fun to get together and play. I have to thank everyone for helping me get it all done this season. I wasn't feeling in tip top shape. However I am feeling better and looking forward to the new year and all the joy that comes with it.
The family is gearing up for a vacation. And since Ernie really like not having to drive and fly. We are going on another cruise. The deals are still out there. I found it is cheaper to go on a cruise for Ernie and I then it would be to just pay for the airline ticket to Arkansas for one of us. That makes it a deal. We don't have to put out the cost for a hotel, dinner, car and gas. It's the way to go. I wish there were cruises all over the Untied States. So we could see more of it. However for now I guess we will be happy to go all around the ocean.
We are going to Cabo San Lucas, where the boat will dock for two days. I wanted to go zip lining, but I think we are going to go whale watching instead. I can't wait to see them. It has always been something I wanted to do for my birthday.
The boys are going with us again. We really have a lot of fun with them. It's nice that they enjoy hanging out with us and look forward to a family vacation even at this age. Don't get me wrong there is a lot for a single man to do on a cruise ship. Lucky for us they always seem to be caught on video and yes we buy it.
Ernie is really liking his new job and the company he works for. Ryan is more and more thankful that he was laid off in Oct. He has a lot of dance jobs and since that is what he went to school for he is thrilled. I am still at Coldwell Banker and working in both the downtown and Pt. Loma offices. Dante is working at teaching and looking for new career goals. We have been so blessed this year.
I have to note that my dear cousin Robbie has gone Home and left us. He is so missed. I miss knowing that I can call him for a family update and a chat. Love to you.

Tamale Reunion 2010

It was the best weekend in a long time. The cousins came from the north west the south east ans the north east and even from the neighboring town.
As we all landed at Aunt Honey's house the fun began. The meet and greet was fun on Friday night. We joined together to eat at the local sizzler and filled a table of love. There were about 20 of us there.
After that we shredded meat and went to the hotel to get some sleep. The next morning as we met in the hotel for breakfast the laughter began, so through out the day we laughed on. We started out making cleaning the husks for the tamales and getting pans out, the aprons were beautiful and fun. Aunt Honey called us all in the kitchen to see the chili. what a hoot.
As we worked to get tamales put together and ready to steam. Lisa and I set up lunch and the living room for the games. We played Diaz Family Bingo and everyone was quite serious about the game. Maybe they just wanted to win the prizes. We gave away gifts for those who came the distance. After a nice family dinner as everyone was gathered in the living room, we started telling stories and everyone was put on blast. It made for a nice evening and more laughter. The pictures were priceless and so was the family time. I have to say that it is nice to be together and feel all that Diaz family love. It was nice to see cousins from long ago. Some I haven't seen in years. The most amazing weekend of 2010. I am thankful for my family and for the time we were able to spend together.

All About Fall

All about Fall:
The fall season is in full swing, First Halloween, this year we didn't get any trick or treaters and we even had candy. We had left Aunt Honey's house to be home in time for them. But what we really needed to home for was Ryan he had been laid off from his job. Times are tough. At this point he is still job hunting. He is teaching dance and picking up side jobs just nothing that will pay the rent.
Ernie is finishing up his 90 days on his new job. We most grateful that he was able to find a job so quickly. We shared Thanksgiving with the Lowry family. There is always a good time with them. The food was yummy and the friendship was priceless.
As we start to go into winter and the Holiday season we look forward to be with family and friends. The cousin reunion is the next thing on our plate. And then I have planned a jingle and mingle. This is really a wrap and chat. A reason for us to get together and eat and wrap up gifts. More to come as the season moves along.

Moving into Fall

As the summer wines down and there is a chill in the air fall is on its way here.
I started out the season by attending the "Time Out For Women". It was a wonderful, informative and spiritual time. I was bless to be with Alisi and Betty. The speakers were amazing and the music was both uplifting and fun.
I will always remember that time. Ryan was in a car crash in late September, Yes he is fine. He was a little banged up. His car is so dead. He was blessed by our friends the Teyskos who gave him another car.
He is working hard and building his photography business. We are so proud of him.
We were able to share some time with Stacy as she belly danced her way across the stage. We were blessed to attend the San Diego Mormon Choir perform ace. Our Friend handsome Jim was singing and did a great job. What a night.
We have enjoyed another birthday party for our friend Bob. Have seen baby Carlos get baptist. Our lives are truly blessed and we are grateful. Maxine our sweet and wonderful next door neighbor has gone home and we are missing her. Many new things to come. Ernie and I are looking forward to the cousins reunion and Thanksgiving, For favorite time of the year.

Goodies just ahead of the Holidays

I am feeling the Holidays and wanted to get a head start. However as I thought the sun is now out in full force for Southern Ca. Ernie and I have taken advantage of the cool weather and walked around the zoo. One of our favorite places is the bird aviary. What a nice time we had checking out the birds. In our zoo the birds fly wright over you and beside you. We learned that the zoo has over 7 thousand different kinds of plants. This zoo also grows as much of the food for the animals as possible and is totally green. The benches at the zoo are make from recycled materials. This is one of our favorite places to have Friday night date. After we left the zoo Ryan joined us for a quick dinner.
Even though he is all grown up,(I know what a Mom) Its nice to be able to see him often and visit. I am thankful that he lives in San Diego. Our dear friend and neighbor has passed away in the past week. She was a most amazing woman and full of compassion for others and always gave service to all. Our family has been blessed living next door to her and becoming part of her family. She was more than a neighbor, she was a dear friend. I know that her spirit lives on through all of those whose lives she had touched and there are so many. Goodbye for now Maxine.

Smokey and Friends

This year Ernie and I took our dear friends Gini and Jim Nutz to see Smokey. What a fun night. The opening act was Gladys Knight and she sang all the old hits and then came Smokey. When we first arrived at Harrah's it was 109 degrees Hot hot hot. So inside we went for a small dinner. We came out after the sun went down behind the mountians and it was much cooler. We had wonderful seats thanks to Traci.
Fourth row from the front. Anthony and Ana came along for the show. After the show we went back stage and it was picture time. (see below) Every year it is one of our blessings to be able to see Traci dance for Smokey.
Ernie loves that Traci, I guess since we have so many young men in our lives, I have to let him have a few girls. Traci is on that list. We are so blessed with so many kids. Ryan may of been an only child, lucky for us he is okay to share his parents. It seems that they come into our home and our hearts. Everyone needs some love and I guess Ernie and I are no different.
We feel blessed to share our love and family life with all who pass through our door.

It's time for the Summer Fun to begin

Father's Day brunch was wonderful out on the patio. The boys enjoyed the time with Ernie.
We had great food and it's always a good time when we are together. The boys took this opportunity to play on the wii. There have been Disc Golf games. Ryan and I had a wonderful Mother and Son night out at the Blue Water Grill. We are getting ready for summer guests. it seems when you live in San Diego you have lots of guests. And this year will be no different. Dante has been down almost every other weekend. Which means we get to see more of Bizz.
And Tiger is coming for the 4th of July. We have alot planned for that weekend, The San Diego Fair, Bolba Park, The beach and even a pancake breakfast. May he will get to play sonme Disc Golf. It will be a big difference from Arkasnas for sure.
More to follow...

It's all about the party

Hello,
The month of may has gone by quickly. We had a wonderful Mother's Day brunch. The boys can really cook. We shared a great afternoon of games. Now that we have fallen for the wii and are in the game hole. This is the money pit of fun. I thought when I bought it for Ernie that it would save the couch potato. Now we have rock band and rock climbing and the fit plus. Ernie is always on the look out for more things to do and play. Maybe losing weight might happen. Ernie is enjoying his new job. Working 10 hours a day and only 4 days a week. He really enjoys rubbing that in on Friday mornings as I am leaving for work.
As I see it, he now works for me on Fridays and no pay. the family got together for snacks and games over the weekend. Yes I will post pictures. The girls at the table and the big kids on the wii. We are taking a trip to Tucson and then to LA to help out Aunt Honey.
I will fill you in on the news when we return. Ernie's little brother Darrell is planning a trip from ARK. It is his first trip west. I know it is going to be a shock to him, San Diego is more of a big city then he is used too. New on that front to follow.

We have taken another cruise. Ernie really likes this as a vacation. The sleeping, food and the best no driving or flying.
We gave Ryan and Dante cruises as a gift for Christmas. The sail away date was April 19Th. Since this is their first cruise we planned a short one. The first day aboard the ship was fun of course the food was great. We took a tour of the spa and gym with Dante. Then off to the safety check. Then to dinner. While we were sailing away the boys found them some friends. Ryan even had a past student on board. Ernie and I had the Carr Family join us on this cruise.
This will be a blessing to all the men, since I will have someone to hang out with. (while Ernie sleeps) Of course our boys thought we would be in bed sleep before the Dance Club opened at 12:00 midnight. Much to their surprise we are not only awake but dancing. After all we are on vacation. The next day (day at sea) We played little name that tune, hung out by the pool the weather was good. Sat in the hot tub that wasn't so hot. But felt good. That night was Elegant Night. We got dressed up and took a lot of pictures. The men looked wonderful and the food was great as always. Lobster, Steak, Jerk Pork and the Yum Chocolate Melting cake.
After a round of karaoke (Dante sang as well as Amy) We went to bed about 1:00AM. After all we still had food coma. Got up early enough to see the sun rise and what a sight it was over the ocean to the west to the Island of Catalina. Ernie and I took the water taxi over and enjoyed a morning of walking around the island. On the way back we ran into Amy, Robert Lil E and Abby. I think we had more laughs on that water taxi then anywhere else. Ernie knows how to make the girls giggle.
A little lunch and pool time and a short nap. Game time and then another wonderful Dinner. Alex and Made were our servers. What fun to have them sing and dance with us. Ryan did the dancing that night. Dante and Ernie were in the Hip hop dance off. I have that video.
If I can figure out how to post it, you will see it here soon. We were all caught on film this trip dancing. Our dinner table Sure became way more fun when the AAA Girls arrived.
Now here we are and about half way done with the cruise. The next day as we arrived in Mexico the weather was light showers off and on. So Ernie and I didn't go on land much. The Boys had booked a tour so off they went. Ernie and I enjoyed our time together in the now warm hot tub watching it rain. Had a wonderful after noon of rest and relaxation. A little sushi and back to the dinning room the boys got there a little late, but hungry never the less. After dinner and more karaoke and it was Latin night in the dance club. And then the dancing was on. It was hard to leave the carefree life style behind. But I guess reality bites.
I can tell you this it won't be the last family cruise. The boys loved it. And it was priceless.

One Flower missing in our Family Bouquet

The flowers kept coming in the door. As our family was missing one of our most amazing flowers. As we said Good-Bye to Carrie and shared stories of her giving heart. I am so thankful for the love that our family has for each other. Carrie was a teenage when I was born, however even though we were years apart in age. We were always close in spirit and crafting.
I can remember being a teen and visiting Carrie and Ollie and then Baby Loren. The years have sent our family to many parts of the United States, I am ever so grateful for the Internet that has brought us all closer then ever and into each others daily lives. We drove along ahead of the rain and had a wonderful time just catching up. The road had nothing see as it was a dark night. We got into Tucson about 3:00AM After a few hours of sleep off we went to see my Dad and Ma. And a wonderful Mexican breakfast. Then to the quilters market, one of my favorites spots in town. We picked up my parents and off to the Birthday party. I have to say that Moe really enjoyed seeing the snow on the mountains. And it looked so close. Really about 2 hours away.
There was loads of laughing about that. So we enjoyed good food and friends at the party. ( pictures below). We had a wonderful time with Coleen and Family. It was a foodie weekend, with all the goodies we don't have in California, like Eggees, and date shakes. we drove back home the next day in the crazy rain. Moe did most of the driving, as we drove through a cloud in the California mountains.
The next weekend Ernie and I took off to Disneyland and then to Las Vegas. After a day of rides and fun in the misty rain we drove toward Las Vegas. Stayed at State line and since we could not check in to our hotel until after 4:00PM, we decided to drive on to ST George Utah. Meet up with Betty and daughter at Lunch and then went back to her house. Wow what a beautiful home. We showed Betty around St George and the best ice cream "Neilsens" Yummy.
Showed her how to get to the Seagull book store. We stopped in to see Barbara. Who is now moving her and her pigs in Hurricane. We all miss John. Our love for Barbara runs deep. Back to Betty's and then the drive back to Vegas.
The next morning we went to the Old Mormon Fort. The Mormons settled in Vegas in 1885. Who knew. A little shopping about town and a nice relaxing night of movies and rest. We have found a place we enjoy for breakfast when ever we are in Vegas, Blueberry Hill Family Restaurant. Back to San Diego. Wonderful birthday.

End of the Year

Well we ended the year by saying good bye to our Sweet Aunt Fannie.
She is so missed and so is her cookie jar. She is enjoying see the love of her life Uncle Mac, I am sure.
After Ernie and I left Santa Barbara we had a wonderful Breakfast with our friend Ricki. It is always good to see her and Chuck. We arrived back home and Dad was there. He had tickets for the Holiday Bowl. Ma and him enjoyed the game (but with his team losing and the mist of rain) They left early. They spent the rest of the week with Ernie and I. Hung out with Uncle Billy and of course went to OB.
We are looking forward to wonderful things happening in the New Year.
Ryan is doing well and going back to school to work on his Masters. You can find his latest projects on you tube under garage seventh wave or garage chess. He goes by Orionocean there. No we don't get it.
Dante is well also and you can find him on you tube also under Dante7 dance. Both boys will be joining us for a cruise in April. Something to look forward too. In February with all our birthdays in that month. I am sure it will be busy, so if you find you are near San Diego and have a need for cake we are sure to have some. Cheesecake for Ryan on the 5Th and Chocolate for Ernie on the 8Th. Anniversary cake on the 17Th and 18Th. Dante is not usually around but if so on the 20Th more cake. So on the 24Th we have pie for me I am tried of cake by that time. This year we are going to Disneyland on the 24Th for my birthday and if you would like to join us. That would be great. I am sure that many events will happen and people will come and visit so I will add more later. I added pictures to the faebook page. facebook/realichili

C & H

So this is what happened: I found Coleen (Cokey) from high school last year on line. And if you read the blog you know that I went to Tucson Az to visit.
Well she has a rough year but came to Ca to visit anyway. She got off the plane on Thursday night; the giggle fest started. Off to dinner at DZ Akins. And then back to the house. Friday morning we went to Julian and had a wonderful time. The weather was about 75 and sunny. A wonderful day to be in the mountians. Then we went to see Bizz perform. Always a good time and only got lost 3 times before we got there.
Then Saturday morning to the swap meet and then Coronado. After we scooped up Ernie we went for a walk around Seaport Village. Had a good nights sleep and went for a harbor cruise. (thanks Nick) We that the VIP treatment. And we spend the afternoon in Del Mar at the Harvest Festival.
We managed to spend no money. I can't believe all that shopping and no money spent. Let's just say nothing said you have to break a $20.00 for me.
Monday after a great Lunch with Ryan at Tender Greens we had an afternoon on the beach. We made Critters in a hole, for a spooky halloween dessert. They were yummie. and a big hit. I hated to see Tuesday come I took Coleen back to the airport. But it was a wonderful weekend of fun and laughs. Isn't that what friendship is all about. Even 30 years later.

State to State to State

That is how it started in CA. on our way to NV. We had a great day on Friday arrived in Las Vegas and grabbed a bite to eat at the Mirage (BLT Burger). Ernie had the Pork and shrimp and I had the Salmon burger. They were both wonderful. Then we went over to the Venetian and the long awaited Gondola ride. Ernie promised one the last time we were in Vegas.
This just tells you that I keep track. After that and a wonderful dinner. And a good nights sleep we drove through NV and just a tip of AZ into UT.
There we visited with John and Barbara. John 's health is not good, but that didn't stop him from being happy to hang out with Ernie and I for a minute.
We love them so much. And we are praying that all is well. After that a quick shopping trip in St George andx Neilson's Frozen Custard. We zip back to Las Vegas. Had a family dinner at the Sahra Hotel. After dinner it was girls night out.
Ernie and I joined the CA Ladies and Kyle. We went to the movies, (I can do Bad all by myself) Charly and I love Tyler Perry. Then back to the Hotel and s little sleeping in. Not much, but a little poolside for the day to work on my sunburn you know. Then to the Wedding (Did I mention that is why we went) Melissa (Rodney's youngest daughter got married) to Josh. The wedding was at the Manadaly Bay Hotel and was just beautiful. Blessing to them. On our trip back to California we stopped at one of our favorite spots for apples Oak Glen. And as you all there is no place like home. Aunt Honey needs her fence repaired or just rebuild.
We arrive Friday afternoon and visit for a while, Aunt Honey and Uncle Jeddy have places to go. We decide to go to the mall. And check into our motel. We were hoping for a pool but no such luck. Still we did enjoy the A/C. Then we took Aunt Honey off to Home Depot. Ernie has a plan for the fence but it's all in his head. After some measuring and thinking, he shared his ideas and then we were off..
Saturday morning and Ernie started to work taking out the old fence and then back to the Home depot for supplies.
While Ernie was working the women, Monica, Aunt Honey, Lisa and myself went to the store. You know you have to feed the workers. Ernie and Monica's son Andrew were hard at work. I wish I had a camera to share with you the pictures of a 5 year old working with 6'4 Ernie. With Plastic tools. That Andrew believed would work the same as Ernie's tools.
Can I say cute. Ernie got alot done on Saturday with only 2 more trips to Home Depot. You know you always need something else and then Sunday morning back to work and by 2:08PM finished.
Aunt Honey made him a wonderful breakfast, I have never seen a woman look so happy to cook for anyone.
Back to the real world of San Diego. Next week we are going to Las Vegas and St George. We have alot planned. But this time I am taking a camera.
   Family can be fun.

The Beck's Bed and Breakfast, We are open.

While the summer is in full swing and friends and family have arrived. We welcome them with open arms and food. This week Christine and Family came to town, Even though we had to work were able to spend some time with them. They left on Sunday afternoon and Dante and Monica came by for a quick overnight. Ernie and I look forward to next week When Jennifer and her husband will be in town. As the summer is almost over, So far this summer we have had Rodney's son Michael come to stay. My Dad and Ma came just in time for Father's Day.
So this summer it has been light. At one point we thought that Jill and her friends were going to join us. However they only made it as far south as LA. Maybe next year. Ernie and I will have to take some time to go visit Aunt Honey's house (she has the Howard Johnson Room).
I guess we are going to have to come up with a cleaver name for our guest room. If you have any ideas please share them with me.

Ernie and I may also go and visit Aunt Frannie who was just in the Hospital. She is back home now. But since I am the reporter for my Dad we are planning a trip north to Santa Barbara, I am so thankful that there are family guest rooms all across CA. You might find Ryan knocking on your door as he is planning road trip to Napa, CA.

Autism Tree Project

It's the third year that Ernie and I have had the opportunity to serve hot dogs at this picnic. This year we cooked up about 87 pounds of hot dogs. And what a wonderful team we had.
I would like to thank them all: Kym Forgrave, Phillip and Connie Gonzales, Lewis Zollinger and the girls in charge of watermelon, Carol McHugh and Lee Chapman. Without them we couldn't of pulled it off. Thanks again.
We have already volunteered for the picnic next year. One of the changes will be to add another BBQ. So we can keep the dogs moving and the line. It is such a joy to serve these kids and their families.
We believe that when you serve your fellow beings you are in service of your God. This is such a powerful message in an afternoon of fun. Also we want to Thank the Wright and Hoff Families for giving us this opportunity. Our legs and backs feel the pain, as our hearts fill with so much joy that I don't have room enough to receive it. The blessings will be flowing with us through out the year. If you know some one that would like to donate a gift basket to this foundation let me know. I am going to start collecting early. I do have a tax slip.

All About the Dad's

Well it's Fathers Day weekend and you know the Dad's are looking to be pampered. This year my Dad was in town and of course wanted to see everyone that he could. So we threw a small party of mojo tacos, rice and beans. And of course the best chocolate cake ever.
Tyler and Sean arrived and then Casandra , David brought the " Tata" (Mikaela) Ernie and I, Ma and Dad, uncle Billy. We had a good meal and a wonderful visit. Oh yea the Dogs Curly Sue and Star. What a wonderful time. I love it when we all get together. Family is fun.
I think my dad is the best, of course you could have a different opinon. There is one lesson I pray that I never forget, and that is to always be kind and caring to who ever your child is dating. There have been people in my life that I dated and I know that my Dad didn't like them. However I learned that long after that person was out of my life. My father has taught me to be quick to forgive. And to show kindness. I believe on this Father's Day that it needs to be said that my Father has taught me by example. And for these lessons I am grateful.

Autism Tree Project Foundation

It's that time of year again and we are gearing up for another wonderful picnic.
This year we plan to cook up about 1000 hot dogs. But the spirit of love and care will go on.

Masters Degree

It's a masters world and Dawn got her Master's Degree on Sunday May 24th.
It took awhile but she is thrilled to have finished school. I was there only time enough to attend. I wished I could of visited many of you. I stayed in Lehi this year because my time was short.
But I so needed this boost of spirit among women. It was an amazing journey. I am thankful that Ernie is okay with me attending. By that I mean he is willing to be home alone.
I am thankful for the spirit that filled my heart even before the opening prayer and the amount of service that is given each year brings the spirit right out of my eyes all wet and full. To note that there were more then 100 quilts tied, school bags made and personal kits, along with scarves made in a day and blankets trimmed. Over 27 thousand hours of service in one day. We as women are amazing. If you are ever feeling low and think that you are not getting things done. Rest assured as a woman it will happen. One quote that I really enjoyed at the conference this year was " When you walk in to the room you either add to it or take away from it."

Where are my Parents?

As many of you may know that my Dad and Sandi took a trip to Nebraska.

They left sunny Tucson on April 6th and got to the home of Alice and Robert in New Mexico that afternoon. The dogs were happy to be there and to rest and play (Star Bright Diaz) Dad's new puppy sister lives there. So after the doggie reunion, off they went.

The next day I called to see where they were. Found them a place to stay in Dodge City. And was told that there is nothing in Kansas. The road was red brick, which I found funny. I thought for sure you would follow the yellow brick road. After a good nights rest and breakfast off to NE. They arrived at Karen's house and checked in with me. They were able to spend some time with Karen's daughters Nina and Selina. They also saw Celeste's Children Selena, Cisco Jr. and Seirra. (just so you get the pecking order) Celeste is one of Rodney's daughters and is maried to Cisco.

Karen's boyfriend Donnie was around also. So the weather was great when they arrived. The next day they thought going fishing would be fun, But that was all they did fish, not catch. And my Dad said the weather was cold. The next day the weather was beautiful again and that was the pattern of the weather on their trip.

They went with Rodney and Connie (Rodney's wife) to see BB King. Reported a wonderful time. They reported a great meal and family fun on Easter Sunday. They really enjoy their time with the grandchildren. As you may know my Dad thinks if it is 80 degrees it's freezing he was happy the that Connie liked a warm house.

They spend some time visiting Sandi's side of the family. What a wonderful time for her. She is always so gracious of all of our family get togethers. As lately there have many. They enjoyed Uncle Willie, I think the dogs were happy that there were no children. Since that is something new to them. Curly Sue hide from the kids and Star Bright was played out at the end of the trip. Off they were back to New Mexico, Alice would like to have kept them.

I informed her that it was time for them to return home. In true Dad style while in New Mexico he caught up on the laundry.

They arrived home and were still full of engery. However the next day rest and more rest. The girls Curley Sue and Star Bright are happy to be home. I guess there is alot to be said for having your own bed. I can't wait to see them in Las Vegas in the fall, for Melissa's wedding. and of course I will fill you in.

Good times can happen anytime!

There have been lots of sadness in our family lately. We are missing Uncle David already. I know Aunt Honey is feeling the love from all the family that is around her. Just before Uncle David's passing Ernie and I had a dear friend that lost his life to an illness. Our social life is going to funerals.
I found this and thought I would add it to the blog. I pray that it gives all comfort for what ever your trials are at this time and maybe whenever you have one.
There's no doubt about it: Now and then, difficulties come our way.
But they always pass. And in the meantime, you don't have to put joy on hold! No matter how hard things may seem, there are still blessings to count, beautiful memories to make and smiles and hugs to share. Life is still good. Enjoy! For me I will always remember my uncle in the best possible light. He was one of a kind. When we arrived on board we went up to the Lido deck to eat. As I was walking across the restaurant, I heard my name and to my surprise there was Shay and Debra. We met them last year on our last cruise.
Ernie and I were so surprised and delighted. Also joining us were Bill and Cindy Teysko. They are wonderful and dear friends for the last 20 years.
So the begins, Day one dancing and song and fun had just began. Day two Ernie and Bill let Cindy and I sleep in while they walked around the deck of the ship. I did get some time out by the pool and in the sun. Then it was off to Name that tune and Sports Trivia. Country line dancing and the marriage game. We all dressed up for dinner and can I just say Yum. The next day we arrived in Cabo San Lucas, We took the Land and Sea tour; Off on a boat we went to see the arches and lovers beach. Then the catuas garden and Shopping and then the Glass Blower what a show that was. Back to the ship and more games Twisted Scategories, more trivia. Elimination Trivia and the funniest thing ever Horse racing. A walking of walking and shopping. Then back to the ship. Now you would think we would be tried. But not with the Legends Show and Debra in it. O my I can't believe I almost forgot the dance off at the deck party. Wash the dog small and large, You had to be there. Ernie was funny. Then back to raining in San Diego. I am ready to plan another trip. What a wonderful time and We are so thankful to Cindy, Bill, Shay, Debra, Kelsey and Terrance for making it one trip we will not forget. I was hoping to have pictures before I posted.

So here we go. Dec 2008

As you can guess with the Holidays it's busy. We had our annual Christmas Dinner. Every year I am amazed that we fit so many people in our living room and this year we had about 23-25.

We had a wonderful dinner and I want to thank the boys remembering to bring the food and drinks I requested. And thank you to Debbie for bringing rice. They were a big help.

I might do that every year since it worked out so well. I took pictures with everyone as they came it. Pictures to follow.

On Christmas morning after opening gifts with the boys, Ernie and I took off to Tucson.

Our plan was to help my Dad do some handy man work around the house. So Ernie got busy and Ma and I got out of the way.

We went to the Quilters Market. and then to see Cokey and to the movies. We did bring the men lunch. And then met them at dinner. My big Fat Greek Resturant. We had a wonderful time with Cokey's Family. We got to meet Kathy's man Joseph. (she looks so happy and peaceful with him).

Then after a day at work at Dad's we left and went to Phoenix to visit with Carol Ann and Bookem. We had a wonderful dinner and a good visit. Carol put us up in the suite. A big thank you to her and her dog Fancy pants.
Enjoying the sights we drove to Flagstaff by way of Sodona. Can we talk snow. There was snow. It was so pretty and Ernie was able to go back in time and enjoy driving in the snow. just like when he was a boy. Along long time ago. Ernie and I then visited with our Niece Melissa and Great Niece Alicia and Josh. I am so thankful for the time I get to see them and get to know them better. We went back the next morning to see Adena and Alicia discovered what a wonderful toy Uncle Ernie is. She was so mad and sad when we left she went into her room to pout.
Then we drove around the back way to enjoy the sights on the way to St George Utah. Of course this gave us time to go to Neilsens Frozen Custard. I would drive 7 hours for that anytime. Yum. We also had a wonderful lunch with John and Barbara Barnum. We love them.
Since we were on vacation we took a tour of Brigham Young's winter home. And learned that the Saints grew allot of cotton in Dixie and there are pecan trees every where and you can pick up enough to make a pie if you were willing work a little.
Ernie and I enjoy the church history stuff, We left St George and drove to Anaheim CA. Took in an afternoon at Disneyland. I have to tell you it was about 34-54 in AZ and were were not cold until CA. I know it sounds strange, but the fog rolled in and it was so wet that we were chilled to the bone. Arrived back in San Diego on Friday the 2nd. After driving over 3000 Miles. Ernie was a happy man to be back in his own bed. life was back to normal the next day in the rain we took down the Christmas tree with the help of Mileaka Grace. And then back to work. I am so happy and thankful that I work for a company that gives so much time off. There was some sad news My sweet Uncle Jim passed away, His heart was broken when his wonderful wife passed away last Sept. I am sure the reunion was sweet when they were back together again. We will miss him. As our journey continues in Feb. As many of you know that is Birthday month 5 Ryan, 8 Ernie, 9 Dad 18th our 25th anniversary, 20 Dante and 24 Me. More fun to come.

Mountian Fun

It's getting into Nov. And Ernie and took our trip to Oak Glen for apples.
This year we took Milaeka with us. She really knows her apples. Even at 5 years old.
It was a wonderful trip and yes the apples were great. We even brought home a bushal.
Loads of shopping and fun. While we were gone, Katalina and Kimo had come to visit. They have sure grown up. They came back to San Diego to dance. Most of you will remember them coming to the Christmas Eve party and dancing for us. I sure miss the K Kids. It's hard to believe that are now almost all out of high school.
Then after Katalina and Kimo flew back to Mo. Ernie and I took off for Big Bear Lake. No phones and lots of rest. We did manage to have dinner with Heather and Jon Teysko. What a fun time laughing with them. This was the first time we were able to hang out with them since they got married. We are so thankful that they were willing to drive from Crestline to Big Bear.
You all know that if we plan a trip no matter how short the weather is going to be a factor. So on Sunday we woke up to snow. Pictures will follow. All and all still a wonderful weekend. Great food and friends.
Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner. But for now I will finish with September. The beginning of September started with a trip to Sea World. Where Ernie and I met up with Uncle Billy and Lillie.
We took Evan with us. So as the pictures will show we saw Sea World through his young eyes. Ernie and I ended September with a trip to St George Utah. Our Sweet friends John and Barbara Barnum celebrated 60 years of marriage. So we drove to St George for the Ho Down and the fun.
I also have a few family shots from my trip to saw farewell to my sweet Aunt Dale. Our end of the month pick me up do include a trip to Disneyland. I am looking forward to a wonnderful Fall. And for all of you looking for Family news, Ryan is working hard and is doing well. Dante is making life changes and they seem to be good ones. We are feeling blessed and thankful for the Gospel in our lives and all the wonders of a wondrful Heavenly Father.

Farewell for now Aunt Dale

This past week was a sad and happy week.
My sweet Aunt Dale passed away. As she moves on and meets with her son Allen and the rest of the family on the other side.
She will be so missed here, However the reunion is the best to see those who have passed before her. As I was up north with my family and watching my Dad. It made me sad that he is watching his family get smaller.
He is so amazing to me, he has a strong heart (which seems to be a Diaz thing). I am so thankful that he was willing to drive Aunt Honey and Uncle David. Since we know that we are all getting to an age where we can't do what we used to, and they are no able to make these long drives..
It also was a happy time for all those who were able to visit with each other. I am thankful for that time to renew our family spirit and laugh together. It's fun to see the growth in our family as the next generation grows and marries and has children.
While we were together Lisa and I counted 32 cousins. (3 have passed on). Wouldn't be be wonderful if we had s cousins reunion.
A time to visit and share stories and love together. If you have any ideas please pass them along. Now I am back to the work world. But my heart is still with my family. The night was great. What a job the girls did.
Then 8/13 we got together with Moe and Bob and David for Debbie's birthday. There are pictures of that . What a wonderful time we had in that resturant. Good food and Friends. What a great meal. Debbie was surprised to see us all there. (don't mess it up Debbie's birthday is really on the 14th. this was just the best day to get together.) There was talking and laughing and eating. Oh yeah and presents. Great Cake.
Well summer is moving along and we needed together with Jovaune before he went back to Ohio. So on the 20th we had dinner out at Phil's.
It seems by the pictures that J liked the food. It's hard getting this group together. Kim and Rachel and Ernie and I . I think I spend most of the month getting small parties together. After dinner we went to Ocean Beach and walked on the sand and chatted in the water. I sure hope that they can all join us on the cruise that we have planned in Feb.
Then I went to Tucson for the weekend, pictures to follow. The last weekend of the month. We took Evan to Sea World. What a way to see the shows through the eyes of an 18 month old. He was so fun and Ernie and I were able to hang out a little with Uncle Billy and Lillie. Yes there will be pictures. We even managed to get some things done around the house.
On a sad note, Ernie finally send his Red truck to a new home. He had that truck for about 16 years and it was been sitting for the last five. With the price of gas ( 8 miles to the gallon). Ernie decided to sent to Father Joe to help in job training and to see a new life rise up from an old friend. More then Ernie were sad about this even our neighbors were sad. We all stood and watched as it left it's home.
Sept is getting ready to begin and we have some fun plans. Let's see what happens. I am sure I'll blog it.

Hot Hot And Hot Tucson

Well I went to Tucson for the weekend. And I can just say HOT. 101 degrees. I went to see a friend from high school that I haven't seen or talked to in 30 years. Her name is Colleen, But I still call her Cokey.
I had a great time, Friday after I landed and my parents picked me up.
I was able to get one of my favorite things a Sonic Slushie, Yum.
Then on my way to meet Cokey. She looks the same to me. We hung out and did just what we did in High School drive all over town in the car. So we chatted and laughed and told old stories and got hungry.
We met up with the families at " My Big Fat Greek Resturant". There was a group of ten. What fun we had telling stories and eating wonderful food.
We all felt sorry for our server, not only did she have to serve such a crazy bunch, but when the greek music started she had to dance around the resturant with her fellow servers. Then there was the food that she had to light up with fire and booze. Opa! She earned her tip for sure. OPA!
The next morning out to the Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then shopping for the afternoon BBQ. Then we got to do the best thing ever. Go into the pool and cool off and chat some more. Then later that night we caught up with our children stories . One more day at breakfast and back to my parents house.
I was able to visit with Tricia and the parents. For all of who are wondering. My Dad is doing great and so is my Ma. They seem to be going on with life. And of course Curly Sue is helping to keep them young at heart.
There will be pictures later. I did happen to notice on my camera that the last three times I took pictures, they all are in a resturant with family or friends. Nothing says fun like good food and good company. (No Ernie did not go with me.:( )

That crazy weekend

It was the weekend of July 25th. My sweet friend Linda's Birthday weekend. The girls get together for all the birthdays, and this one was no different. Our plan was to go and see the King and I and have lunch together. Later that evening we met at Harrah's Rincon to see Patti Labelle.
Now the best laid plans:
Here comes the kicker. Our Sweet Dante calls and asks to stay at the house. (No Prolbem). Later he calls and adds four other people to the guest list. Then informs me that I am going to cook foreveryone, (if I was going to be home that would be no trouble and fun).
So the first wave arrives at 3:00AM and the second wave at 5:00Am.
The dance group Dante and friends need to be in Del Mar about 7:45AM.
Here we go getting everyone up and out the door. Remember we have 1 bathroom. To see the King and I we need to leave our home at 10:00Am.
It's about an hour away. We get to the Lawerence Welk Theater and have a wonderful lunch. The show was so fun and we had a wonderful time.
We got back to our house about 5:00PM and then rested until 6:15 and off we were to pick up Moe and drive another 1 1/2 hours to see Patti Labelle. We met Linda there. Both shows were so great and so different.
The King and I was a wonderfuly done play and Patti was a fun concert.
What a woman. She sang her face off and made us laugh and cry.
We got home about 1:00Am. What a Saturday. Ernie and I really had a good time. We are thankful for good friends and good company and wonderful enterianers that made our July 26th the best. Happy Birthday Linda. Next week is Moe's.

Autism Tree Project Foundation

Saturday July 12th was the day and we were ready.
Tim and Karen had laid a great foundation and all we had to do was follow their lead. As you see in the pictures we had a great time. There is a picture of a little boy that was scared for a minute, but jumped into Ernie's arms and found peace. There is a picture of Ernie and Evan getting into the jumpy. And then the cooking started.
Here we go. Ernie and I think we cooked and served about 500-700 Hot Dogs. We enjoyed it so much. That we could feel it all the way down to our leggs and feet. Hahaha We are planning on what we could do to up our game for next year. What a blessing it is to serve the Lord's special spirits.
Our hearts were so full that when we talk about the joy that we recived from this day it leaks out of our eyes. Karen,Tim, Todd, and Dayna what an amazing thing you all do. The blessing are truly felt.
I know that your hearts too are full. Ernie and I are blessed to be a small part of a wonderful team. Come and join us next year and share in the joy that our Heavenly Father gives to those who serve.
"When I am in serve of my fellowmen, I am only in serve of my God"
I am thankful for the opportunity to give some smiles and food to these wonderful spirits. Ernie and Heather had to be where the action is.
So yes we took off a day from work to go. Got to Disneyland at about 7:15AM. Waited in line and rode a few rides before going to California Adventure (they open at 10:00). When we got inside and found out that the line was 4 Hours long we decided to enjoy other parts of the parks and come back another day.
So here we go. Hung out with the Queen and the Mad Hatter. Had a great lunch at the Blue Buyou..
Came back to Disneyland on the 29th what a difference. We walked onto the new ride with a wait time of under 35 minutes. The ride name is " Toy Story Midway Mania". It was so fun the first time around I scored 8900 points. I don't remember Ernie's score was he was ahead. Then we rode the Grizzy Rapids. Can I just say: Hint: Do not ride a water ride before you go to lunch and take pictures with the Disney Princesses.
Note in the pictures below not a good plan. I am going to have to go back and take other pictures when I look a little better.
Lots of fun at both parks and we went to Cartoon Town, since we hadn't been there in years. Its all so new and fun. Checked out Mickey's house and Minnie's of course. Ernie is to tall to go into Goofy's house.
But city hall was fun and of course we took pictures. I will scrap them up.
Loads of fun and yes we are planning another trip before summer is over.
Some day we might grow up, But don't hold your breath. :)

Big Bear

Ernie and I thought it would be fun to go to Big Bear Lake.
We were not so ready for the snow on the drive up and the cloud we drove through.
We stayed in a wonderful Condo (Thanks Carmen). When we arrived it was about noon so food was the plan. We found this place called the Lumber Jack. It looked like a hole in the wall. You know what that means, good food. We had a breakfast dish that was big enough to share. Sourdough pancakes and biscuts and gravey. So good. We took a walk around the village. Shopping, found some fun stuff and then went food shopping for the condo.
It was starting to get cold so we went back to the condo and Ernie did his favorite thing NAP.
Out to Dinner and more walking around the town.
After watching movies and enjoying a fire. And a good nights sleep.
Ernie and I went to the Discovery Center, What a cool place and then we decided to walk around the Lake. Burrr cold, But Ernie with camera in hand took pictures.
It was the best weekend we had in a long time. We found a new tile rummy game and now we are hooked.
And the sun came out the day we left. I think we will go again.

Getting Started

This is just the beginning, As we travel we would like to share some of the fun.

Ernie and I invite you along for the ride. What a great time, we meet new friends and had so much fun.

As you all know Ernie enjoys eating and that is what he did. Ernie learned all the times for the different buffets, Mexican and Dessert.

Ernie also found time to nap. This was the first vacation in a long time that he didn't have to drive somewhere. So he really enjoyed himself.

The first day we check out the ship and had dinner with two other groups. Debra and Shay (sisters) Ryan and Emily (couple). Our table turned into the party table and other tables were caught listening in to all our fun.

We enjoyed the first night and got a good nights sleep as the ship rocked us to sleep.

The next morning after a trip to the spa and then breakfast.

We lay ed out by the pool for awhile and had a little snack and then went back to our room for a movie and a nap. It was formal night, so we got dressed up and went to dinner. There are allot of activities on the ship.

We took a dance class, played "name that tune" Listened to some music.

Spend the day in Cabo and walked the town as small as it is. Hung out in the mall and shopped. Then shopped some more. Came back on board and lay ed out by the pool some more since it was a nice 82 degrees. Not bad for February.

Our last day on board was full of activity. Played more games and went to karaoke and dancing. I was really happy that I did all the packing early in the day. It freed up our evening. We had a blast. Ernie and I had so much fun that we booked another crusie.
