April Fool of Surprises

I have to say the month started out with some sad news.    We lost Ernest Beck Sr. He lost his fight with Parkensen's. So then Ernie and I took off to Arkansas. This was a crazy trip first we hung out in the airport for hours (9). We were flying stand by. Then we finally got on the plan and made it to Alanta GA and got the hopper plane into Little Rock AR. When arrived about 8:30AM. We started this trip 4:30AM the day before. To the hotel and off to the service. (thanks Dawn for the tickets)             After the service we and a meal with Ernie's family. Back to the hotel for some needed rest. Checked in at the airport to find that since there was a bad storm rolliong through the area. So we took a flight back toward home that afternoon. We had to fly into Orange County and then take a train to San Deigo.  Thank you Anthony for picking us up at 1AM.         While we were out of...

March Madness

Well March started out with my Dad and Sandi coming for a visit.     They arrived on Thursday, we rested from the long long trip from NM and to help the dogs get used to the new house.     Friday morning I had nothing planned so we kind of hung out most of the morning since it was about 80 degrees we decided to head to Coronado and enjoy the beauty of San Diego. After a small lunch we went to pick up a cake and the dinner for that night. We have been in the new house now for a year and had dinner on the patio with Kathy and Erica and baby Kenlee.     After a nice evening and a good nights sleep the parents spend Saturday at the OB Kite Festival.      We had the  family over for a small potluck on Sunday night and the parents headed to Aunt Honey's place on Monday.         Ernie and I enjoyed an afternoon watching the MAD CHAPS dance, Ryan did some choreography for the group...

Birthdays every week

Well we are into February and the birthdays have began. Ryan had one on the fifth. Then Ernie  (& our Brother in law Mark) on the eighth. My dad on the 9th. I picked up Ernie's favorite cake Belgium Chocolate Truffle Cake. He was a happy man. His gift this year, dirt  yes that is true dirt and other plants to help him start his garden. He was thrilled and went right to work planting.     The next week we headed to Utah to Celebrate Betty's birthday and our Anniversary. Took a side trip to Bryce Canyon. If you have never been I can tell you it is a bucket list must see. We had a wonderful day enjoying all the sights that God created. Amazing it was 66 degrees and sunny with about 6 inches of snow on the ground.  The red, Orange and pink cliffs of Utah mixed with the green trees and snow was a beautiful sight.      We spent part of our anniversary with Aunt Honey and Uncle Jeddy. Had a nice breakfast and were able to see Melissa, Jo...

Jan 2013 and a New Year

Well I would like to say that the year started off with a bang, however not the case Ernie came home from work on New Years Ever not feeling great. So going out for the evening was out.  Had everyone over for the New Years Dinner good food and family fun.       Then along came the MLK weekend and I came down with a crazy sinus something and stayed in bed for 3 days. I am better now and thankful that it wasn't worse.       We are getting ready to celebrate all the birthdays in February. Ryan's is first and then Ernie.  Ryan has to work the night of his birthday, but I am sure that we will think of something. Ernie and I are going to visit Utah over our Anniversary and enjoy some cooler weather.     San Diego has been cooler then normal for us this winter. We are not big fans of cold weather so we choose to visit it rather then live in it.  There is a plan to see Aunt Honey and Uncle Jeddy in February....

We partied like 1999 and landed in 2013

The year has starting out great. We had a wonderful "Almost Christmas Eve Party"  I guess I need  to make more food it was the year we ran out.  The men won the game this year and have bragging rights for 2013. Ladies let's get our title back next year for sure.  It was great to have so many of you there, I think I counted 24 adults and 6 kids.               We are going to have to work something out for the kids next year, although they watched movies without so much as a peep from them. The power of media and good food. We had a few new comers this year. Bonnie, Troy Angie and Candice.  I hope you all felt welcome. Then a quiet Christmas Eve Ernie shopped and I cleaned house. Christmas day we had a great time after opening gifts and a quick nap. We lay ed about and  watched "This C...
You've Got One Shot, Charlie Brown   ( I fund this and had to share so true) Another nostalgic post. Respect your elders. We got the Deseret News every evening. Sure, the Tribune was delivered in the morning, but it was clear in my home that there was something suspect about the Tribune. I was always a newspaper reader when I was kid. For the most part, I would look through the whole thing, finishing with the comics. (delayed gratification) But, for one month out of the year, the newspaper had a very specific purpose - and it was serious business to us. As soon as December rolled around, we would grab the newspaper with a sense of urgency, and open it directly to the TV listings to search for the signs of their coming. Who, you may ask? The Big Five of Christmas. Specifically: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Santa Claus is Coming to Town! Frosty the Snowman! How the Grinch Stole Christmas A Charlie Brown Christmas These were THE Christmas ...
